Invitation to a research workshop on current topics in radiation research
There are a variety of different types of radiation and likewise a variety of points of contact in our daily lives. However, how does ionizing radiation differ from mobile phone radiation (e.g., LTE or 5G)? How much do you know about the use of radiation in cancer treatment, medical diagnosis, energy production and space research? How often do you hear about occupational radiation or background exposure? Join us in a workshop (7 sessions) to learn more about the following topics:
- Radiation, friend or foe? An introduction to daily use of radiation, from energy production to art inspection
- The major nuclear and radiation accidents: From Hiroshima, Chernobyl to Fukushima
- Radiotherapy at the forefront of cancer medicine: Applications in diagnosis and therapy
- Radiation, a double-edged sword: Radiotherapy on non-cancerous diseases
- Radiobiology and advanced omics: Understanding the mechanisms of adverse effects
- Radon - an invisible danger: An overview of main risk factor for lung cancer in non-smokers
- Let's talk about space tourism: Space radiation research
